2006-07 Schedule Released

Pirates open season against William & Mary

07/31/06

GREENVILLE, NC - The ECU Ice Hockey Club has finalized its regular season schedule for 2006-07. This year promises to be both exciting and challenging for the Pirates as they take on the best the Blue Ridge Hockey Conference has to offer as well as several non-conference foes.

Fans will enjoy plenty of hard-hitting action as a total of 12 home games are in store for 2006-07. The club starts the season with a Purple vs. Gold scrimmage on September 28, which will introduce the public to the new squad, and kicks off regular season play and a six-game homestand when the College of William & Mary Tribe come to Greenville October 6. The first half schedule is highlighted by a home contest on October 27 against conference rival University of Richmond which will be a rematch of the 2006 BRHC Tournament championship game. ECU will also take on last year's ACHA South #2 ranked Loyola College Greyhounds that same weekend. After a trip to the beach for a pair of games against UNCW, the Pirates round out 2006 as they travel to Lynchburg, VA for a series with division rival Virginia Military Institute.

The excitement continues as ECU participates in the seventh annual Canes Cup January 12-14 in Raleigh, NC to start the second half. The Pirates will take on Division II opponents Duke University, NC State, and the University of Kentucky in the three day round-robin tournament. ECU then returns home for a two game set with Appalachian State on January 19-20, but is right back on the road for two tough games against Kennesaw State and the University of Georgia on January 21-22. The Pirates will open up a four game homestand when they host the BRHC Regular Season Champion Clemson Tigers on February 9-10. The 2006-07 campaign comes to a close as the Radford University Highlanders are welcomed to Greenville on February 16-17.

The ECU Ice Hockey Club looks to improve upon last season's 14-7 overall record, which included a trip to the BRHC Tournament championship game, and welcomes the support of all fans. Tickets will be available all season at the door on the day of the game and are $3 for students with ID and $5 for adults.
